Dear Cal Aquatics Fans,
Welcome to the first edition of our new email newsletter! Expect an email at least monthly filled with team results, alumni/friend/parent events, features such as “where are they now?” and other important and interesting information.

The Men’s Swimming & Diving team placed second at NCAAs, only 30.5 points out of first place. The Golden Bears won three individual events and four relay titles. Head Coach David Durden was named the 2010 Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships Coach of the Meet. Click here to read more and for full meet results.
The Women’s Swimming & Diving team placed third at NCAAs, a mere 19 points out of first place. Teri McKeever has been named head women’s coach for the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships. Caitlin Leverenz was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, and twelve Bears earned spots on Pac-10 All-Academic Teams. Click here to read more and for full meet results.
Women’s Water Polo is ranked #3 and will return to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation League play next weekend when they travel to Stanford to battle the No. 2-ranked Cardinal Sat. April 17 at 6 p.m. at Avery Aquatic Center in the final game before the MPSF Tournament. Senior standout Meghan Corso was named MPSF April 5th player of the week. Click here to read more.
The Men’s Water Polo team announced its 2010 recruiting class: Max Bergeson, a 6-0, 180-pound left-handed attacker from Corona del Mar, Calif.; Giacomo Cupido, a 6-2, 190-pound defender from Santa Margherita Ligure, Genova, Italy; Blake Kelly, a 6-2, 185-pound defender, Kelly is from Newport Beach, Calif.; Perry Short, a 6-1, 190-pound left-handed attacker from Perth, Australia who enrolled at Cal in January, 2010; Jon Sibley, a 6-6, 180-pound goalie from Orinda; Collin Smith, a 6-0, 165-pound attacker from Carlsbad, Calif. SAVE THE DATE: September 10-12, 2010, for the Aquatics Homecoming Weekend. Parents, Alums, and Friends of Cal Aquatics…please come! Friday night, September 10th: cocktails and dinner (this year’s Gala); Saturday, September 11th, morning activities t.b.a., then pre-game tailgates and the Cal vs. Colorado football game. All Cal Aquatics alums/current athletes and their families will be offered pre-game field passes, and all Aquatics alums/current athletes will be introduced during the game on the Field. SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, April 29, 6:30-9:30pm, Toe to Toe, a benefit for Cal Athletics and ODC Dance Commons, at Herbst Pavilion at Fort Mason, San Francisco. Cal student athletes (including women’s swimming and men’s water polo) and ODC dancers compete in contests of agility, strength and endurance, culminating in a dance-off!
